Most golfers understand that looking after themselves is extremely important in order to play their best golf. At elite level, it’s clear to see that golfers have become more athletic in recent years and sport science has shown significant performance gains in athletes who exercise specifically to condition their body to the demands of the sport.
The purpose of a golf screen is to highlight physical limitations that affect your golf swing and performance, providing data that helps us to develop a specific training plan for you to improve your golf swing. The golf screening process involves a series of physical tests that assess all physical aspects that can affect your golf swing, including: joint mobility, stability, balance, strength and power.
Following your golf screen, you’ll receive a written report and an exercise programme based on the screen results. This exercise programme is your prescription to an improved swing and a better game.
Who is a golf screen for?
A golf screen is for anyone of any age who wants to move better, reduce the risk of injury, create a more consistent swing pattern, or become more powerful and increase their club head speed. Whether you’re just starting out, part of a junior academy, playing frequent competitive golf, looking to join the Pros on tour or simply hoping to play long into retirement, a physical golf screen and fitness programme can help you achieve your goals, give you the edge and perform better.
As a Physiotherapist with a special interest in golf and movement mechanics, Rob Barker is ideally suited to help you move better and play better golf. Rob has worked within golf for almost a decade, rehabilitating and providing fitness programmes for golfers of all abilities; from amateur to professional level. Rob will work with you to identify what you’re good at, and what requires more attention with regards to your physical condition, and then get to work to make you a better golfer.
If you’d like to work with Rob longer-term after your golf screen to develop your physical conditioning for golf, you can do so either one-to-one within the Fairway Physio gym in Lancaster UK, or remotely online. Feel free to discuss this with Rob during your screening session.
